  1. Note: I reused parts of my Tekkit Legends PvE application as they were non-unique to each modpack. What server are you applying for? Voltz What is your In Game Name? epicalisepic What is your TeamSpeak Name? epicalisepic What is your time zone? EST When are you available? 4-6 hours a day on weekdays and weekends- however, weekdays will minimize to 3 daily hours when school begins in early September. What is your In Game Rank? Sergeant, 12 hours in-game time. When did you first start playing Minecraft? When did you start playing modded packs and Voltz? (Answer in depth) I began Minecraft in early 2011 after it was recommended to me by a friend. Despite a solid fifteen average FPS, I found a great joy in playing. I started by joining a server. It was a great time! I was exploring, and if I saw something interesting, I broke it and took it. I did this quite a lot, until I found some players who were in a PvP arena. I began playing with them, and I had a great time! Then, while hacking and slashing, I was hit with the ban hammer. I couldn't understand- why was I banned? To wrap it up, I didn't know what griefing was. I then went to singleplayer. I began with creative mode- spawning in chickens by throwing eggs, playing with lava and TNT. I then went to survival on my father's Lenovo ThinkPad. I played for hours and hours, accumulating stacks of iron- yet I never found any diamonds. Afterwards, I joined a survival server. That's where I began to thrive, as I felt part of a community. I loved that community to great heights, and it loved me back enough to appoint me as staff- and that's where my reign began. I began with the Tekkit Modpack. I played a bit of Towny and PvE- but I mostly played factions. Tekkit felt right- enough addition to make the game interesting and set new goals. I then played FTB, Direwolf20. I didn't enjoy this modpack as much as Tekkit- likely because it didn't have a condenser. I then played a bit of Voltz. I'm currently trying to refresh myself. I then dabbled through different modpacks, until I went on to start my own server. What experiences do you have moderating a community or game? Have you ever been given a staff role on a server before, and if so, what did you have to fulfill? I've had quite a reign, I've moderated or administrated Five Minecraft servers, Realmcraft (Vanilla Towny) (2011-2012) I was a helper on this server. I mostly moderated chat and occasionally checked for grief. Legendary Bane (Vanilla with Protection Stones) (2013) I was a high-level administrator on this server. I monitored cheating and exploiting, moderated chat, and assisted with server growth. Factions of Vodka (Tekkit) (2014) I was a moderator on this server. I moderated chat and monitored cheating- that being combat cheating. I occasionally looked for X-Rayers- but not many X-Rayed- at least in those days of Tekkit. A Tekkit Towny Server (2014) I was a moderator on this server. I mostly dealt with X-Rayers and moderated chat. Monitoring combat cheating wasn't very important- as the server was mostly PvE. Forgotten PvP (Vanilla Factions) (2015) I ran this factions server, setting up and organizing everything. I dealt with cheaters, moderated chat, installed and set up plugins, handled financing, selected staff, and set up the website. The server ultimately failed- though moderately successful through donations- however not successful enough to warrant maintaining the server. Oblivion Tekkit Legends PvE (2017) I'm currently a helper on the Legends PvE server. Three Garry's Mod Servers, (2015) Thunder TTT 1 and 2 (Separate application process for each) Hawkeye TTT (The name could be wrong for this one) (Separate servers with separate applications) Here, for the three of these servers, I mostly dealt with text and voice chat moderation, alongside banning those who broke the gamemode's rules by random death match. A Reign of Kings server, (2015) I administrated on "ROK Finland". I mostly assisted new members and helped players that might fall victim to the game's many glitches in its early stages. and an ARK: Survival Evolved server. (2017) I ran "EasyARK Servers Annunaki 1000x" for a month- establishing a constant average connection of approximately 15 people. I set up the server, installing mods and editing the configuration files. I ensured the server ran smoothly and also dealt with exploiters who took advantage of any in-game glitches to give themselves an unfair advantage. One of these was the ability to tame the Primordius, an end-game Annunaki Mod dragon multiple times in a short period of time. This gave exploiters a massively unfair advantage and also crashed the server. I swiftly acquired the steam IDs of the exploiters and banned htem. Why should you be a Helper? Why do you want to be a Helper? (Answer in depth) I have a lot of experience. I've even ran a factions PvP server. I've also moderated on a Tekkit Factions server. I know how to deal with difficult players. I like to be brief, clear, and concise. I also enjoy helping others- that being ensuring the success of the network and specifically the Voltz server. I'm a friendly and kind staff member, but I'm firm when I need to handle bad behavior. I want to expand my horizons- I have never staffed on a Voltz server. I have noticed over my time on the Voltz server that there are quite a few rule breakers- and they can escalate when there aren't any staff online. I've noticed that there are some time periods where the server is understaffed, and I hope to fill that hole. Who are you? I'm a sixteen year old male who enjoys video games, building computers, volleyball, fencing, and a bit of soccer. I participate in extra curricular activities like debate and Model United Nations. I tutor youth on Saturdays during the school year, free of charge. I generally excel academically in most classes- the outlier being one foreign language- Spanish. I enjoy playing video games at home and all- but I also love to hang out with my buddies- whether it's only playing video games with them (in person) or heading out to Coney Island, I am always enjoying my time with friends. To sum it up- I'm a nerdy, academically involved, and a very social person. I'd also like to talk a bit more about my experience with building computers, When I was in sixth grade, I caught an interest for video games. I spent about four months learning a computer inside out, and ordered a custom build. I then slowly upgraded by setup, through my keyboard, my mouse, my monitors, my router, my graphics card, my HDD to an SSD, until I did a complete tear down and built a beautiful new computer. I've always loved computers from the external hardware to the internal coding- but right now, I'm more obsessed with the hardware. What is your Age? 16 What are your strengths and weaknesses? Strengths -Six years of experience -General people skills -Helpfulness in welcoming and getting members on track -Dedication to a community Weaknesses -Age, as I'm a minor -I'm a debater- which means I enjoy a good argument. -Server time- I only have 12 hours in-game time. -I have to refresh myself on Voltz a bit more- nothing a set of videos can't do.

Why do you want to be a Helper? (Answer in depth) I've been doing this for a while (six years), and therefore have an incredible amount of experience. I am an active player, and genuinely enjoy helping people. I enjoy this community, and have made good friends here. Tekkit is my favorite modpack, and my preferred version of Minecraft. I want to help this community grow and succeed in any way I can. I welcome new members, I assist new members. I've brought players to this server. I've dealt with difficult players. I've dealt with difficult situations. I've handled them all. I'd like to head into some issues I've noticed- that being staff online. I've noticed that there aren't many staff online past 8 PM EST. There's no one to help new members. There's no one one online to ensure the server runs smoothly. I want to be there. Who are you? 4. Hi, Due to the extreme lag on Tekkit Legends, I think it would be a good idea to install some type of decay plugin for players inactive for 2 weeks or more- a time then can extend to a month when necessary. There are a lot of inactive bases that lag the server and even crash it when flown over due to massive, dormant EMC farms. This plugin is used on other servers and I have seen it effectively use lag. I'm not quite sure whether it automatically destroys inactive structures or admins perform a daily check of inactive players and destroy their bases. While this does require the destruction of bases, it does have a significant impact on the general quality of the server- without harming those who still play on the server. I really feel strongly about this, and I would like to emphasize that this isn't grief. It's removing incredibly inactive bases from the server from players who most likely ever return. In fact, some might construct massive EMC farms and leave just to lag the server as a form of grief. Regardless- in the long term, this will better ensure that we have active players and don't suffer from those who don't even play anymore.
  5. But then it isn't an original build. Imagine if we all just copied builds- you'd essentially be judging someone else's build.

Hi, So... the filters. I understand why they're there, but I have a few points that might be interesting to think about. 1- A large portion of Minecraft players these days are at an age where swearing becomes a regular part of their daily language. It must also be noted that most younger players play minigame servers, like Mineplex. 2. This leads me to my second point- the filter pushes away players. Having certain words turn to "urinates" or "shizzle" puts players off. Solutions: 1. Turn the filter off. Rule in that swearing is allowed, but not excessively. Racial slurs and words like it are still not allowed. 2. Turn the filter off and have moderators discipline swearing. This wouldn't put players off as much as having to see "duck, shizzle, urinates" and more. I would like to reiterate a point. I was speaking to a Helper earlier. He explained that a lot of children play Minecraft, and that this was essentially a children's game. Because of this, a filter was needed. I asked the age of what he considered a child, and he said 11 and under. I'm going to be honest- most players, at least those who go through the effort to play tekkit- aren't 11 and under. I'm going to attach an optional and vague age poll. We'll see the results.

I have a screenshot right here showing two saves under 60 seconds:

I stand by what I said. Crashes aren't often enough to warrant a save every 2 minutes. A save every 20 minutes would be just fine. The server can't handle this much saving.
  9. Hi, every 2 minutes or so there's a huge lag spike, followed by a [World Saved] message. In order to fix this, it might be a good idea to up the world save time to ever 15-20 mins- since Tekkit Legends PvE doesn't crash very often. Thanks.
  10. Hi, This is for Legends PvE So I've been noticing repeated lag spikes. Right after these lag spikes, we get the message [World Saved]. This happens every 2 minutes or so, and so every 2 minutes we get a huge lag spike. Legends PvE doesn't really crash very often- so upping the save time to every 15-20 minutes would decrease lag exponentially while still saving the world at appropriate intervals. Thanks.
